A Son of the Circus (1994) is a sprawling literary thriller by John Irving set in contemporary India. It follows Dr. Farrokh Daruwalla, a Parsi orthopedic surgeon living in Toronto, who returns to Bombay to study dwarfism and gets entangled in a serial murder investigation involving circus performers, prostitutes, and his own screen creation, Inspector Dhar.
